If you want to explore the spooky side of Savannah, Bonaventure Cemetery is a must-see destination. The cemetery first opened its gates in 1846 under the name Evergreen Cemetery. Like other Victorian cemeteries, the sprawling grounds included curving pathways and grassy areas, designed to provide families a place to gather and be comforted. Now covering over 100 acres, the cemetery is the final resting place of countless Savannah citizens and home to some of the most beautiful gravestones, monuments, and statues the city has to offer.
