Fat Olives makes it to the very top of the list for one simple reason. They have just a ridiculous amount of positive feedback from customers and consumers. But on top of that, they aren’t just a steakhouse which is a lot of what you find when you try to find “nice restaurants.” No they aren’t a steakhouse, instead they serve the absolute best pizza and pasta you can find anywhere in the Flagstaff area. 

And the reason they serve the best Italian food in the area is because they make everything the traditional way. Their oven was handcrafted in Italy. They hand make the cheese in house every day. They even use imported Italian flour. I mean if you are trying to find authentic Italian food in the Flagstaff area then look no further. Fat Olives has you covered!

2. Lumberyard Tap Room & Grille

Lumberyard Tap Room & Grille has a four star rating with over 2000 reviews in. Which is astoundingly consistent. The only thing that kept them out of first place is that they are a bit more laid back then most people think of when they think of “nice restaurants.” And I don’t mean that in a bad way. What I mean is that if you are in the mood for a great burger and a cold beer for lunch, or the same for a light dinner, then this is absolutely going to be the go to place for you in Flagstaff. 

They feature a brewery right on site so you know the beer is fresh. And they serve traditional American style bar food and barbeque too. So I think they are a really accessible restaurant in case you have a picky eater in your dining party.

“This place is so good! My husband and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. I love that they have vegan cheese and gluten free options. 3. The Toasted Owl Cafe

The Toasted Owl  Cafe is somewhere that is best on a sunny day. And the only reason for that is that the indoor seating area is actually quite small, so if people can sit outdoors, the wait for a table isn’t nearly as long. But if you can get a table then you are going to be treated to the best breakfast and brunch place anywhere in Flagstaff.

They do all the classics like french toast and breakfast burritos, and even have some new options that are quickly becoming popular like breakfast tacos and avocado toast. All in all, if you are looking for a great breakfast in Flagstaff you can’t beat The Toasted Owl Cafe.

If you are looking to have a great night out with a date, then I think Tinderbox Kitchen is my number one choice for you. They offer an upscale version of a classic American dinner menu. And they set the ambiance and presentation to match. It’s just nice. I don’t know what else to say honestly. If you want a delicious meal, in a comfortable setting, with excellent drinks, and knowledgeable staff then Tinderbox Kitchen is gonna be just the spot in Flagstaff for you!

5. Shift Kitchen & Bar

Shift Kitchen & Bar is going to be a great spot for you if you are looking to have a mid to up-scale dining and drinking experience. And I’m not trying to undersell it, but I also don’t want to make it sound out of this world expensive either. They take a lot of great, classic, American dishes and gussy them up with some sort of modern topping or fusion. Which really makes for a great night out. You can get something familiar and comfortable, but with a new interesting take on it.

6. MartAnne’s Breakfast Palace

I love MartAnne’s Breakfast Palace for a few reasons. First of all, they name themselves the breakfast palace and I just love the confidence. On top of that, they have literally been voted as the best breakfast place in Flagstaff in prior years so you know they are doing something right. But what I really really like about MartAnne’s is that they have such a unique menu, they really let me shake up the options on the list today.

See MartAnne’s serves a whole menu of American breakfast classics, everything from french toast to hash browns, but then they also have a whole menu of classic Mexican breakfast dishes as well. Which means they are a great place to eat when you have an adventurous eater and a picky eater in your dining party. 

Because the picky eater can pick from the classics that they are familiar with, and the more adventurous eater might get to try something new for the first time. Mexican breakfast places might be really popular in the Southwest, but to somebody in the Northeast who has never had the opportunity to try it, it sounds incredible!

They have everything you might expect a pub to serve, but they doll it up and take it up to the five star quality you would expect from their whiskey menu. If you are looking for more than just a great dinner, and you want to have a great dinner accompanied by some great drinks then Whisk and Whisky is going to be the place in Flagstaff for you!

Outback Steakhouse is an Australian twist on the classic steakhouse experience. What I like about Outback is that it gives you the opportunity to go to a fairly nice steakhouse at a fairly reasonable price. And I like to have options for every income bracket on these lists. Especially lists of “nice restaurants” because there are plenty of places where you pay extra, just for excessive ambiance and service. Not everybody wants that, or needs that in their restaurant, so for people who just want a good steak at a fair price in Flagstaff, give Outback Steakhouse a try sometime!

I’m betting most of you reading this are familiar with Texas Roadhouse even if you haven’t been to one. But I’ll try to summarize what they do real quick. They are a popular chain of steakhouses across the country. But unlike other steakhouses they put a Texas spin on the menu, which means there’s going to be plenty of BBQ and fried chicken on the menu as well. Texas Roadhouse might not meet everybody’s definition of a nice restaurant, but I’m sure there’s plenty of people in Arizona who enjoy this Texas based establishment!
