Good morning, good day, good afternoon, or good evening and welcome to my article on the best campgrounds that you can find near Acadia National Park. I’ll be sure to give you the website for every campground so that you can check out prices before you decide to stay anywhere for sure. And I’ll also give you the campsites address so that way when you have decided on which of these incredible campsites is the fit for you, you can just throw it in the ‘ol GPS app and be on your way. And on top of that I’ll also let you know anytime a business or campsite accepts our convenient digital GiftYa gift cards.
As a reminder a GiftYa digital gift card is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. A gift card that functions just like every other gift card. It lets you make purchases at a participating bar, attraction, or store up to the face value of the gift card. However, unlike traditional gift cards. GiftYa digital gift cards come with a few additional benefits. For instance, unlike a traditional gift card, a GiftYa can be sent straight to your phone in seconds. That way you don’t need to deliver a GiftYa in person if you want to give it as a gift. You don’t even have to go to a store in person if you want one for yourself. You can just visit the GiftYa website and pick one up today.
Since GiftYa cards are sent directly to your phone you never have to worry about misplacing them or forgetting to take them with you. In most instances you are going to have your phone with you so in most instances you will have your GiftYa cards right in your pocket. In addition to that, your GiftYa also keeps track of the balance for you. Which is so much nicer than having to try to remember how much was left over on those antiquated plastic gift cards. I mean you can’t write it on them very easily so idk what you’re supposed to do if you don’t use the total value the first time? Just guess the next time you are in town?

602 Main Rd | Holden | koa.com/campgrounds/bangor/
So I don’t have enough nice things to say about this Kampgrounds of America Location. I recently went on a two week road trip all over New England and spent two nights at this campground when I was visiting Acadia National Park myself.
To start with, the location is great for tent campers, or vehicle campers and they even have glamping spots set up. There is a nice clean pool by the entrance. The bathrooms are without a doubt the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a campground. There’s a great little ice cream shop next door with an absurd amount of amazing flavors. The owners went above and beyond at every opportunity to help us out with advice and friendly service. All the camping spots had plenty of room and the park stays nice and quiet after 10PM.
And on top of all of that, the owners are from New York City. And they make what is possibly the best pizza in all of New England that you can get for a great price. I seriously can’t over-sell it. It is so drastically much better than you would think any pizza would be from a campground.
“This KOA has been AWESOME! They have done so much work. The owners were very friendly and super understanding. It was one of my favorite KOAs so far. Great atmosphere, great service, and super friendly people!” - Yelp Review
516 Sound Dr | Mount Desert | mountdesertcampground.com
If you are looking for a great campground that is really close to Acadia National Park then look no further than Mount Desert Campground! Not only do they have a great location and ample space for each campsite, they also happen to offer free wifi across the entire campground. And I really can’t oversell how big of a deal that is when you are this close to Acadia. So this can be a real make or break feature when it comes to a trip to Acadia National Park.
“Packed. They provided plenty of help and sooo close to Acadia too! Some sights were pretty tight to get a pull behind camper in but the location and all the small extras made the stay pleasant and worthwhile.” - Yelp Review
136 County Rd | Bar Harbor | koa.com/bar-harbor-oceanside/
Just like the KOA location in the number one slot, this KOA location at Oceanside is another great place for tent campers, vehicle campers, and glampers alike. They have all the campground amenities and you can even have fire wood delivered to your camp site if you get it from the KOA store.
“It doesn't have 50 amp service nor sewer hookup. However, when you're mins from the entrance of Acadia NP and you have THE most gorgeous views, does that even matter? They also had live entertainment and beer tasting at the pavilion and a small "shack" that serves fresh lobster and ice cream sandwiches every night. Could you ask for anything more?” - Yelp Review
2695 US Rte 1 | Sulllivan | acadiaseashorecamping.com
Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins isn’t as well known as some of the other locations on the list. But hopefully that means it will be less busy for you if you are having trouble getting a reservation at one of the other campsites. The nice thing is you have the option of camping in your tent, or you can rent one of the cabins and enjoy the scenic view.
“What a gem! We were thrilled with our stay here - the sites are roomy, the views are amazing, and the owners are so pleasant and helpful! The showers & bathrooms are clean, and the entire campground is well-maintained. We will be back - thank you!” - Yelp Review
Rt 3 | Bar Harbor | nps.gov/blackwoodscampground
Blackwoods Campground is definitely my number one spot if the whole reason you are going on a camping trip is so you can really go on a hiking trip. And that is because although Backwoods features scenic views, it also has plenty of hiking trails that start nearby so you can cut down on your morning commute to the trails if you stay here.
“Great campground! Still following Covid safety protocols in a very efficient manner- the common bathrooms are clean and well maintained. My husband and I enjoyed our camping trip very much!” - Yelp Review
20 Main Street | Southwest Harbor | smugglersdencampground.com
The amazing thing about Smuggler’s Den is that they have been providing family friendly camping to thousands of people a year since 1969. And despite being open for more than 50 years, they still boast a four and a half star rating from their campers. Which is a kind of consistency I’ve never seen a single business have when writing these articles! So you know that if you stay here they are going to go above and beyond. I mean they never miss.
“Staff was very friendly. Price was right and they were open when everyone else was closed. About 20 minutes to bar harbor and Acadia National Park. The showers were ok - a little on the small side. Campsites were pretty tight.” - Yelp Review
There you have it dear internet reader! If you actually read this far down the list then congratulations! You now have a list of all the great campsites there are near Acadia National Park. Every campsite on the list today has a four and a half star rating at least so it was really hard to put them into a decisive order. I went with the Bangor/Holden KOA because I was literally there a few weeks ago and they blew my expectations out of the water. I hope they do the same for you!
