Subway is a great place to grab lunch before you head out camping. 1 - Bangor/Holden KOA

I Stayed Here Recently And They Went Above And Beyond At Every Opportunity

So I don’t have enough nice things to say about this Kampgrounds of America Location. I recently went on a two week road trip all over New England and spent two nights at this campground when I was visiting Acadia National Park myself. 

‍

To start with, the location is great for tent campers, or vehicle campers and they even have glamping spots set up. There is a nice clean pool by the entrance. The bathrooms are without a doubt the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a campground. There’s a great little ice cream shop next door with an absurd amount of amazing flavors. The owners went above and beyond at every opportunity to help us out with advice and friendly service. All the camping spots had plenty of room and the park stays nice and quiet after 10PM.

And on top of all of that, the owners are from New York City. And they make what is possibly the best pizza in all of New England that you can get for a great price. I seriously can’t over-sell it. It is so drastically much better than you would think any pizza would be from a campground.

2 - Mount Desert Campground

Great Campground That Is Super Close to Acadia National Park

If you are looking for a great campground that is really close to Acadia National Park then look no further than Mount Desert Campground! Not only do they have a great location and ample space for each campsite, they also happen to offer free wifi across the entire campground. And I really can’t oversell how big of a deal that is when you are this close to Acadia. So this can be a real make or break feature when it comes to a trip to Acadia National Park.

3 - Bar Harbor/Oceanside KOA

Another Great Kampgrounds Of America Location Near arcadia!

Just like the KOA location in the number one slot, this KOA location at Oceanside is another great place for tent campers, vehicle campers, and glampers alike. They have all the campground amenities and you can even have fire wood delivered to your camp site if you get it from the KOA store.

“It doesn't have 50 amp service nor sewer hookup. However, when you're mins from the entrance of Acadia NP and you have THE most gorgeous views, does that even matter? They also had live entertainment and beer tasting at the pavilion and a small "shack" that serves fresh lobster and ice cream sandwiches every night. Could you ask for anything more?” - Yelp Review

4 - Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins

Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins isn’t as well known as some of the other locations on the list. But hopefully that means it will be less busy for you if you are having trouble getting a reservation at one of the other campsites. The nice thing is you have the option of camping in your tent, or you can rent one of the cabins and enjoy the scenic view.

5 - Blackwoods Campground

Blackwoods Campground is definitely my number one spot if the whole reason you are going on a camping trip is so you can really go on a hiking trip. And that is because although Backwoods features scenic views, it also has plenty of hiking trails that start nearby so you can cut down on your morning commute to the trails if you stay here.

6 - Smuggler's Den Campground

Great Family Camping Experience Near Acadia National Park

The amazing thing about Smuggler’s Den is that they have been providing family friendly camping to thousands of people a year since 1969. And despite being open for more than 50 years, they still boast a four and a half star rating from their campers. Which is a kind of consistency I’ve never seen a single business have when writing these articles! So you know that if you stay here they are going to go above and beyond. I mean they never miss.
