Your Guide to the Best Breakfast in Bar Harbor, ME
Craving a Delicious Breakfast Before You Hit Up Acadia National Park? From Eggs to Waffles and All Your Other Favorites Here are Your Best Options
For such a cozy little town on water in Maine, Bar Harbor gets a lot of tourists each year. Between locals, leaf peepers, and people headed to Acadia National Park, it’s always a good idea to have a few breakfast options in mind in case your top pick is swamped. Luckily, there are tons of places to get breakfast in Bar Harbor, ranging from quaint hole-in-the-wall bakeries to national chains.
I did my best to try and get as much menu diversity onto the list as I could, but there is only so much I can do when I am focusing on one type of restaurant only 😅 But for each of these amazing breakfast locations the list will include the restaurant's location, a Yelp review, a summary of the restaurant's style, and even a convenient link to the restaurant's website in case you want to order takeout or just want to preview the menu before you go in person. I've even included links where you can get a GiftYa E-Gift Card for each and every one of the participating restaurants.
PS- Virtual GiftYa gift cards make the perfect present for loved ones, whether they’re born and raised Mainers or just visiting Bar Harbor for the weekend. Choose from thousands of local and national brands (or GiftYa Select and let the recipient choose for themselves), add a special message inside, and send it off in an email or text in just a couple of clicks. Then they can choose from several ways to redeem, like cashing out with Zelle or a physical gift card, swapping for another merchant, using their balance like any other digital gift card, or connecting it to a Visa or Mastercard they carry with them every day so they’ll never forget it when they need it most.
Now, there’s a lot to gnaw on here, so let’s check out the top breakfast restaurants in Bar Harbor, Maine!
1 - Cafe This Way
Best Breakfast Or Brunch You Can Find Near Bar Harbor
14 Mt Desert St | Bar Harbor | cafethisway.com
Cafe This Way comes in at number one on my list of best breakfast restaurants near Acadia national park for a few reasons. First and foremost, they have a four and half star rating from their customers with nearly 1000 reviews in. Which is unusually consistent. So I know that when I recommend them to you, there is a very small chance you end up there on a day when they aren’t providing excellent service and quality. But I don’t have to worry about any of that with Cafe This Way.
I know that if you go here for breakfast or brunch, they are going to deliver an experience that knocks your socks off. Not only will you get a great meal, you will also get a great price on it. And I think that permeates all the way through the experience at Cafe This Way. There is a really informal and laid back atmosphere with a nice hum of cheerful activity in the background. There really isn’t a better place in Bar Harbor to start your day!

“If you come here and don't order the blueberry pancakes you're doing it wrong. Photos really don't do them justice. Trust me, they're amazing. Staff was welcoming, efficient, and friendly. Hope to come back soon!” - Yelp Review
2 - Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast
Best Homemade Breakfast Classics In Bar Harbor
15 Cottage St | Bar Harbor | jeanniesbreakfast.com
If you are looking to have an amazing breakfast in Bar Harbor, but you really want it to be something special then be sure to check out Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast! They claim to be the best breakfast in all of Bar Harbor and their customers certainly seem to agree! They boast a four star rating with well over 500 individual reviews listed.
But with any restaurant that is so popular at a certain time of day, be sure to call ahead and get a reservation, because otherwise the wait can be pretty long. And there’s really no worse way to start the day than to have everybody in your party getting hangry while they are waiting to just get a table to order food.
📞207-288-4166
“Went here 2 days in a row while in Bar Harbor. Cool place that makes you feel like you are in a Maine breakfast house in the wilderness. Super professional wait staff. Excellent with allergens. Good food - vegan options. Will be back!” - Yelp Review
3 - 2 Cats Bar Harbor
Best Bakery and Brunch In Bar Harbor
130 Cottage St | Bar Harbor | twocatsbarharbor.com
2 Cats Bar Harbor is a great place if you are looking for genuinely fresh handmade food. They make everything on their menu right in their own kitchen. Including a ridiculous array of delicious baked goods. Although they serve a fantastic menu all day, their incredible bakery options really make them an out of this world brunch and breakfast location! And on top of the excellent food, they also have an excellent selection of coffees and teas. And nothing completes a great meal like the perfect drink to compliment it.
📞 207-288-2808
“Ugh I adored this place. We visited on a rainy morning in July, and got seated pretty quickly because it was only drizzling and we agreed to sit outside. The staff were wonderfully accommodating and as soon as they realized we were all getting soaked, did whatever they could to get us inside. I got the lobster Benedict and it was wonderful. Definitely need to come back here next time we're in Bar Harbor.” - Yelp Review
4 - Side Street Cafe
Put Your Name On The Waitlist at this Breakfast Spot in Bar Harbor!
49 Rodick St | Bar Harbor | sidestreetbarharbor.com
Listen, the worst thing I have to say about Side Street Cafe is that they are seriously way too busy. But that is only because the food is so great that they can’t possibly meet the demand for it all the time. And it is for that reason that I highly recommend putting your name on their waitlist at your first opportunity because otherwise you might have to wait for hours to get a table. But if you do get a table you can expect some of the absolute best breakfast anywhere in Bar Harbor!
And the nice thing is if you don’t want to wait for a table inside, there is always the option of eating outside. And while that’s great because it’s a great way to be able to take your dog out with you to the restaurant, the downside is that you are in Bar Harbor, so there is a good chance of rain so just be sure to check the weather if you are planning on sitting outdoors.

If you are the kind of person where the food comes second and the coffee comes first when it comes to enjoying breakfast, then Coffee Hound is going to be the spot in Bar Harbor for you. They have great cafe style food for breakfast including pastries and awesome breakfast sandwiches, but what they really specialize in (as the name might suggest) is a great cup of coffee. Their craft coffee is “farm to cup” and is locally roasted by the restaurant themselves. You can enjoy everything from a hand-crafted latte or cappuccino to matcha tea or an Americano. 9 - Jordan’s Restaurant
The Best Place in Bar Harbor to Grab An Early Breakfast
80 Cottage St | Bar Harbor | jordanswildblueberry.com

They open up nice and early at 5AM so they are the perfect spot if you are looking to get an early jump on your day of exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia. We both loved everything we tried.

Thrive obviously focuses on juices, smoothies, and salads. And they do all of that really well and it is all obviously really healthy for you as well. But what their name doesn’t let you know is that they also happen to have a pretty fantastic breakfast menu. And the nice thing is that their breakfast menu leans a little on the healthy side. So if you are planning a big day of hiking and exploring Acadia and don’t want to be weighed down by a heavy breakfast all day then Thrive Juice Bar & Kitchen might be the best breakfast spot in Bar Harbor for you. Popular with locals and tourists alike, Mount Dessert Bakery is as adorable as the name suggests. You’ll enjoy the cozy vibes of the exposed brick walls and wood dining tables that would look perfectly at home in any grandma’s kitchen.
Not to mention, Mount Dessert is local through and through. It’s locally owned and operated, plus you’ll have the chance to order drinks made from local tea and Maine-roasted coffee and espresso. Just grab a mug from the wall of quirky options, and get ready for the best breakfast in Bar Harbor!
