Completed in 1937, this suspension bridge spans 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers) across the Golden Gate Strait, connecting San Francisco to Marin County. Designed by engineer Joseph Strauss, the bridge was once the longest and tallest suspension bridge in the world. Its striking Art Deco design, with its signature International Orange color, was chosen to enhance visibility in the region’s frequent fog. The Golden Gate Bridge is not only an engineering marvel but also a cultural and historical symbol of innovation, resilience, and beauty. It is a popular destination for tourists and photographers, offering breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island, and the city’s skyline. Visitors can walk, bike, or drive across the bridge, and explore nearby parks like the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center

“Love walking across the Golden Gate Bridge! Wonderful views from the bridge while getting a bit of exercise. This is always one of the iconic structures I take out of town visitors to see. There are so many places from which to get amazing pictures, but some of the best pictures can be taken from the Presidio Tunnel Tops, Baker Beach, and on the bridge itself. My guests are always in awe when they get up-close views. What's not to love about the bridge?” - Yelp Review

“I've been coming here for years taking visitors from out of town and I recently came back for the first time in a long time.
I usually park on the side street at the bottom of the stairs, take a couple pictures, and leave. I really should make another visit here and go to the stop to get a top-level view of the city. It's a nice scenic spot to stop by for locals and visitors alike.” - Yelp Review
