I tried to find a little bit of variety in the options, but the truth is that in the winter time, most of the options for activities are going to be indoor activities. I don’t know how many people out there need Subway explained to them. Dominos is also another spot that I imagine needs no introduction. But for a quick synopsis Dominos is a national fast food pizza chain that is quite affordable. So if you are in a hurry for a quick dinner or lunch you can’t really go wrong with pizza can you?

1. Sun Valley Ice Rink

A Great Place to Ice Skate In Sun Valley of All Places

If you are looking for something fun to do in Sun Valley in the winter then what beats a winter time classic? The Sun Valley Ice Rink is a great place to spend a morning or afternoon skating around this beautiful ice rink. And they have rental skates available so you don’t even have to worry about bringing your own. 

And on top of that there are some of the best views in all of Sun Valley visible from the ice rink. And you might even catch an olympic level skater out on the ice practicing. But don’t let that discourage you, the rink is welcoming to skaters of all skill levels.

2. Sun Valley Ice Shows

Sun Valley Ice Shows is pretty much what it sounds like. However there is one big caveat, this isn’t your typical ice show. There are several medal winners and sometimes some Olympic level skaters will make an appearance for a performance. So not only do you get to watch an amazing spectacle all performed on razor sharp ice skates, you will also get to see some world class athletes. And if that isn’t a solid way to spend a winter afternoon I’m not sure what is.

3. Lodge Bowling Alley

A Classic Low Stress In Door Winter Activity Available In Sun Valley

Lodge Bowling Alley is going to be? You guessed it, a place where you can go bowling. And it really has a pretty fun aesthetic that brings the experience up a level. I personally find bowling to be a great low energy group activity that you can do with friends in the winter when everybody is groggy from the sun setting at 4PM and never getting any vitamin D. So if you are looking for some inexpensive, fun, and low energy to do this winter in Sun Valley, Idaho then Lodge Bowling Alley might be just the place for you!

4. Limelight Hotel

Modern Brick Building With Great Views of the Mountains and Mainstreet ketchum

The Limelight Hotel might not sound like your idea of a winter activity, but give it a chance. It’s set in a modern brick building right in downtown Ketchum. And it’s not just a hotel as the name might suggest. It also has a remarkable restaurant where you can get food. And due to The Limelight Hotels prime location in downtown Ketchum, you can try the amazing food from the restaurant while enjoying views of main street Ketchum as well as the mountains. You really can beat that as a way to spend a relaxing winter afternoon in Sun Valley, Idaho.

5. The Casino

Best “Dive Bar” Anywhere Around Sun Valley

So despite what the name may have you thinking, The Casino is not in fact a casino. It’s a bar with a slightly confusing name. But once that confusion is out of the way, this can be a great place to spend a winter evening in Sun Valley. It has all the features of the classic dive bar experience that you have come to expect (plenty of dart boards and billiards tables available) but The Casino provides them in a more established and upscale way. 

However, don’t let that fool you. This isn’t some uptight pretentious bar pretending to be a dive bar, the staff and service you can expect are incredibly friendly and laid back. So if you want to grab a drink in a cool relaxed atmosphere then this is a great thing to do in the winter in Sun valley Idaho!

6. Hemingway Memorial

A Great Cultural Artifact In Sun Valley You Can See Anytime Of Year

Hemingway is one of the authors I have most enjoyed in my lifetime and he’s also one of the most celebrated authors in American history. So if bars and bowling alleys aren’t really your speed and you are looking for something with a little more culture to it, then I highly recommend you go check out the memorial. It’s a great secluded area that you can find repose in no matter what time of year you visit.

7. The Boho Lounge

A Great Place to Just Unwind and relax

The Boho Lounge is going to be pretty much exactly what it sounds like. An upscale lounge where you can just find a table, pull up a chair and unwind. And on top of the super relaxing atmosphere at The Boho Lounge they also serve some pretty excellent food. So if you want to unwind and grab a bite to eat one winter day in Sun Valley The Boho Lounge is a great choice!
