Fun fact, the restaurant got its name because it was “boiler room providing heat for the 120 year old Bemis Bag Building.” Now it provides a respectable amount of warmth for you to enjoy your meals. 

Now The Boiler Room isn’t a steakhouse, but it does serve steaks. On the menu you can pick between their tomato braised niman ranch beef shortrib, roasted little mountain ranch’s pork chop, morgan ranch wagyu sirloin steak, or the morgan ranch wagyu private selection ribeye steak. They also have wagyu beef tartare as an appetizer and other delicious New American staples.

9. Johnny’s Cafe

An early 1900’s chophouse that serves as Omaha’s very first!

Shout out to local, family-owned and operated restaurants, we’re of course talking about the OG of the OGs: Johnny’s Cafe. They are Omaha’s first chophouse, first established in 1922, they have been regarded as one of the best by multiple publications over the years.

Best known for their hand cut beef dishes which are all aged in-house and are cooked to order. The House Specialistes that are served alongside the cafe’s signature mushroom sauce are the Chopped Sirloin Steak, Luncheon Steak, and the Chicken Fried Steak. They also have seafood entrees, sandwiches and wine tasting on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month- how fun is that!
