PNC Park and the Pittsburgh Pirates are a fantastic way to celebrate the return of spring to Pittsburgh. Located on the popular North Shore neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pirates games are a great way for the whole family to get out and enjoy an evening together.


With games a couple of nights per week, there’s always an opportunity to get some good tickets. Often PNC Park will arrange theme nights, such as bobblehead nights, fireworks, and even pup nights-- where you can bring your dog to the game!


There are a lot of good restaurants in the area as well, so you can grab a bite and a brew before the game. Or if you prefer, try any of the concession stands located within the park. Either way, you’re in for some delicious treats!

Every year the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens puts on their famous Spring Flower Show-- and Pittsburghers come out in droves to see it. There is a different theme each year-- this year it is the Gardens of the Rainbow-- and you can be sure there are all kinds of colors and species of flowers to take in.


This is a great springtime activity-- it’s perfect for around Easter Time as well. All the new flowers are just started to bud around the city-- but at Phipps they are in full bloom and in full color. When you’re done with the show, be sure to stroll around Schenley Park as well and take in the beautiful sights of Oakland.

Should you want something a little more challenging, there are bike lanes popping up all over Pittsburgh-- most of them are now connected and form quite a large network of city riding.


Golden Triangle also offers guided bike trails with a well seasoned tour guide-- but if you prefer-- you can take the self-guided one as well. If you’re really feelinging adventurous this spring, try your legs on all or parts of the Great Allegheny Passage trails which connect Pittsburgh with Washington D.C.

This is also a great opportunity for the people of the Pittsburgh area to show off their cosplay skills. There’s even a contest for best costume for adults-- as well as one for the kids. This convention always happens each spring, and it is a great way to welcome the warm weather and perhaps some new hobbies as well!

Kennywood closes late in the year after-- it gets dressed up for some holiday cheer. Until then it stays empty-- that is until the spring time rolls around. Kennywood opens in early May, and is a destination for lots of families in the spring.


The season really gets into full swing by Memorial Day weekend-- this is when the summer hours return and the famous Ribs and Blues Festival takes place. Kennywood is over 100 years old, and has been the place for many fond memories for many Pittsburghers. Make some new ones this spring with a ride on one of their new attractions!
