Good day and welcome to my list of the best seafood restaurants you can find around Port Angeles in Washington state. I try to get as much menu variety in these articles as I can, but it can be a little tricky when writing about just seafood restaurants. But I think I got enough menu options that there should be something for everybody on this list. Or at least everybody who likes seafood. I’ll give you each restaurant's website and Yelp page so that way you can check them out for yourselves. And I’ll also give you their address so you can find your way to their front door at your convenience. The Kokopelli Grill specializes in all handcrafted food. That means everything from grilled steaks to local seafood. And listen, when it comes to seafood, being locally sourced really makes a difference. The whole Port Angeles area is located right on the ocean, which means they are just technically accessing the freshest seafood a restaurant can get in the country. I mean, can you imagine the difference in quality of freshness of seafood when it comes to a seafood place in Port Angeles versus some place in Arizona? 

And Kokopelli Grill uses fresh seafood to make all kinds of classics that you would expect. But what I gather from seeing them in review after review is that the crab cakes, and the smoked salmon chowder are just out of this world. Just go to their Yelp page and see how many photos and reviews were posted on just those two dishes. I mean it’s outrageous how popular they seem to be.  So although I’m sure everything on the menu is great at Kokopelli Grill I would feel like I shorted you if I didn’t mention their most popular dishes.

2. 929 Woodfire Grill

The one thing about writing a list of the best seafood places in a city is that a lot of the best seafood is often served at steakhouses. I’m not quite sure why to be honest? I believe it’s probably because seafood and steak are what we tend to think of when we picture the stereotypical nice restaurants in America. So I think a lot of places that might specialize in one or the other tend to provide both in order to make their restaurant accessible to as many customers as they can.

But regardless of the reason 929 Woodfire Grill is one of the top steakhouses in Port Angeles, it also happens to have a full seafood menu. And just like everywhere else on the list 929 has access to incredibly fresh seafood. So while you might normally be tempted to go for the steak, I would urge you to take advantage of your proximity to the coast and get one of their excellent seafood courses!

3. Dupuis Restaurant

Dupuis Restaurant is another seafood place that also happens to have a whole steak menu. But whereas 929 seemed to get most of their rave reviews from their steak options, Dupuis Restaurants as review after review for their different seafood dishes so it really seems to be where the heart of the kitchen is.

What sets Dupuis Restaurant apart from 929 and Kokopelli is that their atmosphere feels very historic and kind of regal? For lack of a better word. So to me, I think Dupuis makes a great seafood place if you are having any sort of business dinner or meeting. The atmosphere feels a bit more serious, but still warm and welcoming, which is a hard style to balance. But people seem to really like it at Dupuis Restaurant.

4. Salty Girls - Sequim Seafood

Salty Girls says it best themselves. They “have good food, great drinks, and awesome shellfish.” And they serve all of that up in an environment that they don’t invite you to come enjoy, they invite you to come and celebrate. So you know this isn’t going to be your typical sit down at a fancy restaurant seafood place. There is going to be an energy and a vibe that is more relaxed, more amenable, and more excited to see you then the places further up the list. 

And listen they have to be doing something right because despite only having been around for a few years they have a four star rating with nearly 300 reviews in. Which is hard for new restaurants to have done over the Covid era. So anytime you see a young restaurant that chalked up rave reviews despite not being able to seat most people in their restaurant you know there is something about the food itself that must be rocking people’s worlds. And not only is their food fantastic, it is also a little different then the seafood you get at the seafood/steak hybrid restaurants further up the list.

5. Dockside Grill

Listen, I know that not everybody out there has some kind of dietary restriction. But to be honest I imagine a lot of people out there who read this do have some sort of dietary restriction, or somebody in their dining party has a dietary restriction. And it’s for that reason I always like to get a place that is both excellent in terms of service, food, and quality, but also has some options for those of you with restrictions. 

And I got lucky today because Dockside Grill does all of that. They are an amazing seafood restaurant with tons of reviews on all kinds of different courses they serve. They knock it out of the park when it comes to customer feedback and experience. And then on top of all of that they have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options available as well. And in my experience any restaurant that boasts about their vegan and vegetarian options is usually really accommodating of any other dietary restrictions you or someone dining with you might have!

6. Downriggers on the Water

I’ll be honest, Downriggers doesn’t have the greatest reviews from their customers, so I definitely think they are a bit more of a gamble than the other places on the list today. However, the reason I include them is because they have a really great view from their dining room from just about any table. And I know that a great view can really make or break a dining experience for some people so I wanted to share somewhere that would have you guys covered as well!

I’m gonna guess most of you know about or are familiar with Red Lobster. But for those of you who don't, Red Lobster is a quite popular national seafood restaurant chain. You can get basically every type of seafood classic you can think of at a Red Lobster regardless of how far away from water you are. Listen, is Red Lobster going to be a dining experience that you talk about for years to come? No it's not. But what it will do is give you a night out at a seafood restaurant with a nice table, good food, good portions, and fair prices. 

So I think it’s worth including on the list. Especially because I know some people out there don’t like to gamble on a new place. And would rather get exactly what they expect to get, rather than gamble on a new place. I get that, especially with the economy the way it is, so for everybody out there who is looking for something familiar give Red Lobster a try!

Port Angeles is perfectly positioned for great seafood. I never knew how much of a difference being that close to the ocean made until this past summer when I road tripped through New England. 

Some of the bay towns up in Maine had some of the freshest and tastiest shrimp and lobster I have ever had. So for anybody in Port Angeles who hasn’t taken advantage of the great seafood scene there, stop what you are doing and go start indulging. If not for yourself, then for all of the landlocked Americans out there who have to settle for frozen fish from the store!
