1 - Riverhouse BBQ & Events
Hands Down the Best BBQ You Can Find In Big Sky!
45130 Gallatin Rd | Big Sky | riverhousebbq.com
Riverhouse BBQ & Events comes in at number one on my list of great restaurants you can find in Big Sky Montana for a couple of reasons. First of all they obviously have a very high amount of positive customer feedback. Which lets me know that they are doing things well very consistently. And it also lets me know that not only are they meeting their customers expectations, but are oftentimes exceeding them. Which means if you stop in for a meal you don’t have to worry that you aren’t going to have an incredible experience.
And they’ve been delivering an incredible experience for over a decade. And in the time since they opened in 2013 they have grown to be one of Big Sky’s favorite dining establishments. And it’s easy to see why. As you might have guessed they serve Texas style BBQ where all the meat is dry rubbed with their secret blend of seasoning and spice. And after the meat is ready, they slowly smoke it over mesquite wood to give it that authentic smoky flavor.
They are open 7 nights a week. Their hours have changed recently and now they are serving food from 3 PM to 9 PM every day of the week. If you are a BBQ lover, or even just somebody who is looking for their next great meal, you aren’t going to be able to go wrong when you stop in at Riverhouse BBQ & Events the next time you are in Big Sky!
“Staying in the area and wanted to eat at a good local place...this is it! Food, drinks, views & service was great! I had the brisket plate & my wife had the baby back ribs and both were awesome and very affordable for the area! Highly recommend!” - Yelp Review

750 Lone Mountain Ranch Rd | Big Sky | lonemountainranch.com/horn-cantle
Located at Lone Mountain Ranch, Horn and Cantle is one of the area's best new restaurants and saloons. You can expect to get some of the best steaks you can find in the area here. And you can even feel good about it when you eat it. Horn and Cantle has a deep commitment to providing locally sourced food that comes right to the farm to your table. So you can feel good about the dollar you spend here because you know not only is it going to an ethical local business, it is then being passed on by the busy and supporting local farmers and businesses!
And as such, they have a season menu that is inspired by local Montana wildlife and vegetation. So not only can you get all the cuts of steak that you might like, you can also get everything from elk meatballs and bolognese to bison short ribs. They have great updated log cabins that you can rent out to spend time enjoying all the activities they have for both kids and adults. But more than anything you’re going to want to try some of their incredible made-from-scratch food that they serve up in McGill's Restaurant and saloon. A Great Cafe for Brunch, Breakfast, and Burgers
47995 Gallatin Rd | Gallatin Gateway | cafe191bigsky.com
Cafe 191 is another great cafe style restaurant you can find in the Big Sky area. They have all the standard cafe style food you might expect. Coffee, pastries. Breakfast sandwiches, sandwiches for lunch, and plenty of incredible burgers, salads, and sides. They even have a separate kids menu for both breakfast and lunch which I think makes this a really accessible place for families and parents when they are looking for somewhere great to eat in Big Sky that isn’t a fancy steakhouse where kids won’t be as welcomed.

77 Aspen Leaf Dr | Big Sky | bywombywordofmouth.com
By Word of Mouth has been one of the best restaurants in the Big Sky area for over 25 years now. And it’s easy to see why. They serve a pretty interesting menu of upscale modern American cuisine. I genuinely am having a hard time trying to summarize it and put it into words, so I’ll just let you know they have everything from goat cheese dip to bacon jam and calamari. I would give their menu a look to see if anything stands out to you. It all honestly sounds a little strange to me, but also pretty delicious as well, which is a combination I don’t usually come across. I firmly believe this is one of those restaurants you have to try for yourself and experience in person.
“Fun addition to the Big Sky area. French onion soup was the highlight. Cute and comfortable atmosphere. Definitely recommend” - Yelp Review
