“The cute little restaurant was casual, order at the counter, and seat yourself (or take it to go was a popular option) in the small inside restaurant, the simple bar, or the courtyard.” - Yelp Review

Most people aren’t born vegans, and the later in life you decide to become a vegan, the more difficult it can be sometimes.
If you’ve recently started to try out a vegan diet but you're struggling with letting go of your old favorite foods (like tacos), know that you don’t have to let them go completely.
Vegan eating is actually very flexible if you know where to look, and Nacho Taco is exactly where you want to be if you’re a former omnivore or vegetarian who’s really craving a taco.
They have plenty of vegan options for you to choose between, and they don’t sacrifice on the flavor, either!
“Always amazing food and service with a smile. No vegan sour cream today, but we were given guacamole in its place. Great substitute upgrade, thank you.” - Yelp Review

You know it’s authentic when they serve you your tacos with a side of lime wedges.
There is no shortage of tacos to find throughout Jacksonville, but if you’re looking for some tacos that are truly authentic, you definitely won’t want to miss out on El Castillo Taqueria.
They make all of their tortillas from scratch, and you can even find traditional Mexican ingredients on their menu that most Americanized taco places would avoid (think cow tongue and beef head, which are a lot tastier than they might sound).
Often described by regulars as “a hole in the wall,” El Castillo Taqueria might not look like much from the outside, but you sure will be pleased with what you find on the inside.
“This place is a hidden gem. I hate reviewing this place because I don't want anyone else to find out about it! It's extremely authentic and I've seen all types of people eat here in the hour we've stayed.” - Yelp Review

Try one of their many different takes on a Margarita, a Paloma, or even their sangria for something fruity to offset your savory dinner, and finish off your evening with their churros to curb your sweet tooth.

TacoLu
Website: tacolu.com
Address: 1712 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
Neighborhood: Beaches
Family owned and operated means that the kids and the adults are bound to have a good time at TacoLu.
Named after founders Don and Debbie’s second child, Lucy, TacoLu is a family oriented place to head to for this week’s Taco Tuesday. If you’ve been around the Jacksonville area for quite some time, you might even recognize them from the few years they ran the first Sticky Fingers!
After they sold their first business, however, Don and Debbie found themselves missing the hustle and bustle of owning a restaurant, which is what led to the idea of TacoLu.
They spent a good amount of time traveling up and down the Californian coast, piecing together baja-inspired flavors to incorporate into their menu. And those flavors are exactly what you’ll find when you walk into TacoLu today. Their menu has changed very little over the years!
“Hands down, the best taco joint in jax! Best staff by far, amazing vegetarian/vegan options, just an overall amazing place! I recommend trying their hot howling monkey as well as the mango habanero hot sauce.” - Yelp Review
Las Tapatias Mexican Restaurant
Website: facebook.com
Address: 9974 Old Baymeadows Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32256
Neighborhood: Southside
A good taco is always stuffed to the point of bursting at Las Tapatias Mexican Restaurant.
Whoever first suggested that there’s no value in a hole in the wall was absolutely incorrect. Las Tapatias Mexican Restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but once you taste their tacos, you’ll be craving them for all eternity.
Their menu might seem limited at first, but don’t be afraid to ask them if they have items that aren’t featured on their menu because they probably do!
The best part: many of the regular patrons at this restaurant are native Spanish speakers, and you might even find yourself surrounded by people not speaking a lick of English - which is how you know this place is authentic.
“Super hole in the wall, amazing, authentic Mexican food! Carnitas were amazing. Tacos filled to the brim & equally as tasty. First time there, will definitely be back & recommend to others!” - Yelp Review
One Night Taco Stand
Website: onenightjax.com
Address: 9703 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32257
Neighborhood: Southside
Once you’ve had a taste of One Night Taco Stand, you might as well propose marriage because you’ll never want to let them go.
The word “tacos” will get an immediate “yes” out of most people, no questions asked, but there’s something particularly special about tacos made in the style of authentic Mexican street food.
Hot flour tortillas, fresh veggies, and meat right off the cooker are a staple of Mexican street food - and that’s exactly what they have here.
Order from a number of creative appetizers, specialty tacos made with steak, chicken, pork, or seafood (you choose!), and a number of other traditionally Mexican street food dishes. They also have some great mixed drinks to accompany your tacos!
“Let's talk about tacos. Steak. Chicken. Ground beef. They are all amazing here. The steak is marinated and tender. The ground beef almost has a taste like there is some chorizo in there.” - Yelp Review
Taco Tuesday just got a whole lot easier. With all of the taco stands in Jacksonville, you might have felt overwhelmed in the past, but you don’t have to anymore. These are the absolute best among the best, and we’re sure you’ll find something you like out of at least one of them during your next Taco Tuesday celebration.
