This New Orleans restaurant brings you Louisiana street food-inspired small plates, cocktails, and of course, beignets. Their Warm Beignets come topped with powdered sugar and caramel sauce. They also serve innovative beignets like Key Lime Pie Beignets and savory Crawfish Boil Beignets. Our favorite, and certainly the most unique beignets we’ve ever seen, are their Duck and Sweet Potato Beignets with a chicory coffee ganache and foie gras fondue.

5. Café Du Monde

Café Du Monde has been a New Orleans tradition since 1862. It’s the original French market coffee stand. And while they are known for their coffee, they are also widely known for their fluffy beignets. Here’s the brief history of beignets behind Café Du Monde: Beignets were brought to Louisiana by the Acadians. The original beignets were fried fritters, sometimes filled with fruit. Today, the beignet is a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar. This is a must-go if you are visiting New Orleans!

They also have beignet bites which you can get covered with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar. If savory is more your style, get the Beignet & Sawmill Gravy—a savory beignet smothered with bacon gravy. And drumroll, please, for the Fancy Beignet Flight! We don’t have all the details on that, so you’ll have to go and check it out for yourself! But we know it has to be epic.

Loretta's Authentic Pralines has been in business for over 35 years—Loretta was actually the first African American woman to successfully own and operate her own praline company in New Orleans! Visiting Loretta’s not only means supporting this powerhouse of a business woman, but it also means some delicious Sweet Praline Beignets, Crabmeat Beignets, and Burger Beignets! And of course you can enjoy a variety of other sweet treats on your visit to Loretta’s, from cookies and fudge to pralines and Lorretta’s King Cakes filled with praline cream cheese.

This French toast honestly reminds us of a beignet—it’s light, fluffy, battered, and topped with powdered sugar. The Southern French Toast is made with battered biscuits topped with powdered sugar and seasonal fruit. We definitely recommend trying both the beignets and the French toast!

If you are looking for a cozy cafe where you can warm up with fluffy beignets and matcha lattes, Streetcar Cafe is just the place. And while their coffee and beignets are certainly what drew our attention to this restaurant, their other food also has raving reviews. Streetcar Cafe also serves breakfast, appetizers, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. Menu favorites include the Brioche French Toast and the Seafood Penne Pasta—creamy penne pasta served with shrimp and crawfish and seasonal veggies!
