Louisiana street food-inspired small plates and innovative beignet creations.
310 Chartres St | French Quarter | sobounola.com
This New Orleans restaurant brings you Louisiana street food-inspired small plates, cocktails, and of course, beignets. Their Warm Beignets come topped with powdered sugar and steen’s cane caramel sauce. However, they also serve innovative beignets like Key Lime Pie Beignets (as pictured above) and savory Crawfish Boil Beignets. Our favorite, and certainly the most unique beignets we’ve ever seen, are their Duck and Sweet Potato Beignets with a chicory coffee ganache and foie gras fondue.
“Each plate was tasty and the overall experience was great! I kept telling myself I'd write a review, but this second time around, they left me no choice but to write an essay about how excellent everything was.” - Yelp Review
Seafood restaurant serving crawfish beignets.
575 Convention Center Blvd | Warehouse District | grandislerestaurant.com
If you are a seafood lover, there’s no better beignet than Grand Isle Restaurant’s Crawfish Beignet. Crunchy on the outside and doughy on the inside, these beignets come stuffed with crawfish, mascarpone, green onions, and lemon dill aioli. These might not be the sweet beignets you are used to, but boy are they delicious.
If you do end up needing something sweet, you can still enjoy their savory beignets and get either their Steen’s Pecan Pie, White Chocolate Bread Pudding, Walnut Brownie a la Mode, Lemon Ice Box Pie, or their Cheesecake of the Day for dessert.
“Crawfish beignet was very tasty and not oily. Then came the shrimp... we were 2 for 2 - we truly enjoyed both. It was a pretty good find. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.” - Yelp Review
With beignet in the name, you know beignets are their specialty.
334 Royal St | French Quarter | cafebeignet.com
Next to Café Du Monde, Café Beignet is known for having the best beignets in New Orleans. Their beignets are always served hot and fresh—they’re even cooked to order. If you want to know the finite details of what their beignets are like, picture this: a crispy outside and a soft center. Beignets are served in an order of three and topped with powdered sugar. Pro tip: beignets are best paired with a cup of café au lait (coffee with milk)!
The beignets were definitely on point! They were giant! They were hot (not warm). The live entertainment was also great! They played, interacted with the crowd and were funny! We sat right next to the stage and stayed until closing time!! - Yelp Review

The original French market coffee stand and known for their beignets.
800 Decatur St | French Quarter | cafedumonde.com
Café Du Monde has been a New Orleans tradition since 1862. It’s the original French market coffee stand. And while they are known for their coffee, they are also widely known for their fluffy beignets. Here’s the brief history of beignets behind Café Du Monde: Beignets were brought to Louisiana by the Acadians. The original beignets were fried fritters, sometimes filled with fruit. Today, the beignet is a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar. This is a must-go if you are visiting New Orleans!
“Our trip to New Orleans couldn't be complete without visiting Café Du Monde. The line moved very quickly and I was so happy with the freshness and quality of the beignets and the coffee. It was the perfect post-meal dessert!” - Yelp Review

Cafe and wine bar boasting delicious beignets—including a fancy beignet flight.
3121 Magazine St | Irish Channel | thevintagenola.com
The Vintage is a cafe and wine bar boasting a variety of delicious beignets. They, of course, offer traditional beignets which come as an order of three or a bag of 10—we’ll take the bag, please. They also have beignet bites which you can get covered with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar. If savory is more your style, get the Beignet & Sawmill Gravy—a savory beignet smothered with bacon gravy (and a poached egg for $1 more).
And drumroll, please, for the Fancy Beignet Flight! We don’t have all the details on that, so you’ll have to go and check it out for yourself! But here’s a picture to satisfy your immediate need to know what a fancy beignet flight might look like.
“The beignet bits are soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The truffle fries are just so good you can't stop eating them. And the avocado toast is probably the best I've had in the city. This place is definitely a vibe.” - Yelp Review

Corner sweet shop serving their signature praline beignets.
2101 N Rampart | Marigny | lorettaspralines.com
Loretta's Authentic Pralines has been in business for over 35 years—Loretta was actually the first African American woman to successfully own and operate her own praline company in New Orleans! Visiting Loretta’s not only means supporting this powerhouse of a business woman, but it also means some delicious Sweet Praline Beignets, Crabmeat Beignets, and Burger Beignets! And of course you can enjoy a variety of other sweet treats on your visit to Loretta’s, from cookies and fudge to pralines and Lorretta’s King Cakes filled with praline cream cheese.
“Let's start with this, the city is filled with beignets and you can get them almost anywhere (just like donuts) but why go anywhere when you can come eat here? Unlike others these were light and fluffy and HOT!” - Yelp Review

Casual breakfast spot with the cutest balcony seating.
307 Chartres St | French Quarter | cafefleurdelis.com
This breakfast spot has the cutest outdoor balcony space perfect for enjoying French toast, omelets, sandwiches, and of course, beignets! This is a great choice if you are looking for a fun atmosphere as much as good food. We know you’re here for the beignets, but if you are still craving something sweet afterwards, try the Southern French Toast. This French toast honestly reminds us of a beignet—it’s light, fluffy, battered, and topped with powdered sugar. The Southern French Toast is made with battered biscuits topped with powdered sugar and seasonal fruit. We definitely recommend trying both the beignets and the French toast!
“Loved my food at Café Fleur De Lis! I had one of the breakfast platters that was great and my friend had the shrimp and grits. We also had mimosas. Service was really friendly and I would recommend coming back.” - Yelp Review

312 St Charles Ave | Central Business District | streetcarcafe.com
If you are looking for a cozy cafe where you can warm up with fluffy beignets and matcha lattes, Streetcar Cafe is just the place. And while their coffee and beignets are certainly what drew our attention to this restaurant, their other food also has raving reviews. This is a great choice if only some people in your group want beignets, while others want a whole meal or even some drinks like Bloody Marys and mimosas. Make everyone happy and enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Streetcar Cafe!
“THE BEST beignets!! They are not super authentic but I loved the flaky layers. I prefer this type of beignets to the ones I tried at cafe du monde. I would definitely come back for brunch and the flakey beignets!” - Yelp Review

Chic, modern brunch spot serving Beignet Fries.
801 Decatur St | French Quarter | montysonthesquare.com
Although this restaurant is located on the historic Jackson Square, here you will find New Orleans breakfast and brunch classics with a modern twist. They have Beignet Fries—that pretty much sums up their vibe. This spin on the traditional New Orleans beignets consists of
thin, French fry style beignets topped with powdered sugar, while their King Cake Beignets are more reminiscent of traditional beignets—cinnamon filled beignets topped with powdered sugar and topped with Mardi Gras sprinkles. They also offer a variety of delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees, in addition to handcrafted cocktails, a local craft beer selection, and dessert!
If you leave New Orleans getting to tell your friends you had Beignet Fries, we’d say that your trip is pretty brag-worthy. Monty’s is a great choice if you have been a long time beignet lover and want to try something new and unique—but just as delicious as the classic.
“The banana foster was probably one of the best things I've ever tasted in my life. I crave it til this day and I wish I can have something almost as delicious as this one here in San Diego. I recommend… The gumbo, banana foster, and eggs Acadiana.” - Yelp Review
