If you were to ask the owners of this quirky, upscale pizza joint to list the best pizza in Indy just a few years ago, they would have argued that many areas in the city were severely lacking. More specifically, the two couples who started Jochomo Upper Crust Pizza felt that Irvington, a historic neighborhood in Indianapolis, was underserved when it came to good restaurant options. They opened Jockomos in 2007, and have since expanded the brand to two more locations around Indianapolis.
Each location is unique in its decor, but they share a pizza style that features plenty of cheese and a generous helping of whichever of their many toppings options you choose. You'll also find salads, sandwiches, and soups, as well as breadsticks with a variety of dips to pick from. They utilize plenty of locally-sourced products and produce, so specials change by season. The menu also features a variety of beverage options, including rotating local draft beers and bottled wines.
"Two words: Cheese Louise! This is literally the best pizza on the menu! You can't go wrong with any pizza here though! There are tons of special creations that will not disappoint you like the slaughter house 5 (all meat), tomato and Gouda, and did I mention the Cheese Louise?
Breadsticks are okay, but what brings them up to 5 star status is the cheesey parm dipping sauce! Definitely a must have with the breadsticks or to dip your pizza in!
My work does a Christmas party in their party space every year. The service is great and the room fits our staff of about 30. If you're looking for a place to host an event, give Jockamos a try!
I think pricing is also pretty affordable. Checks can be split if you order pizzas to share which is a plus! Also there is a lunch special with special slices of the day!" -Yelp Review

Tammy's International Pizza Sensation tends to draw in a hurried lunch crowd that's lured by the advertisement of pizza sold by the slice. But while a quick, delicious oversized slice of cheese, pepperoni, meat lovers or veggie pizza might hit the spot, this restaurant's other foods might be what brings you back time and time again.
Perhaps the quirkiest thing about Tammy's is the all-day biscuits and gravy, which is made from scratch and served up hot whether you want a filling breakfast or a comforting meal later in the day. A pizza buffet is another popular option that's perfect for those visiting the downtown area for conferences or a busy workday. Wings, sandwiches, and salads round out the menu. Friendly, welcoming staff make this a must-do for locals and visitors alike.
"In town for a conference and needed to grab a bite to eat. Found this place on Yelp, and it did not disappoint. The first that hit me walking in was the smell of Chicken Fried Steak! Greeted by the owners Tammy and David Lee. Since it was close to closing time, I ordered one slice of pizza, buffalo wings, drinks, and an order of biscuits and sausage gravy to go.
The food was great and tasty. Gotta say some of the best biscuits and gravy I've had in a while. Thin crust pizza and buffalo wings were tasty!
But what really made the visit to this shop enjoyable was as I'm sitting waiting for my order of wings to be made, David strikes up what turns out to be a terrific discussion of where I'm from, where they are from, and their goals. Just gotta love the passion they have!" -Yelp Review

When the owners opened up the doors of the first Magoo's California Pizza in 2007, they had a vision of serving customers of a variety of backgrounds with fresh, delicious food everyone could enjoy. The unique menu features some international inspiration, like the kabab sauce you can dip your pizza in right alongside a more classic cup of creamy garlic sauce. All of their meats are 100% Zabihah Halal and their vegetables are always fresh, so everyone can enjoy a tasty meal together.
Their specialty pizza options include things like Chappli Kabab Pizza or Chicken Tikka Pizza. You can also create your own customized pizza, choosing your own toppings and sauces. For those not in the mood for pizza, they also offer a variety of sandwiches, burgers, kabab, and salads.
"This place has THE BEST pizza. Hands down. When I moved into the area a friend recommended it. And I'm so glad they did! The pizza is delicious and you get a lot for your buck! I always order and do pick-up (sadly, they don't do delivery).
It's a small location in a strip mall. Honestly, not much to look at from the outside, but this place really is a hidden gem. FANTASTIC pizza and breadsticks. My personal favorite is pineapple and banana peppers. It sounds different, but best combo ever. They have their own signature combo pizzas. So there's always something new to try if you're the adventurous type!" -Yelp Review
The popular chain restaurant, Giordano's, is serving up cheesy Chicago-style deep dish pizzas in three locations throughout Indianapolis. If you've never tried a true Chicago deep-dish pizza, be prepared for layer upon layer of oozing cheese, with a perfectly seasoned layer of tomato sauce on top. The crust has a nice crisp edge to it, offering the perfect complement to the soft pie inside.
While not unique to Indianapolis, Giordano's is still a fun pizza option for both locals and tourists. Visit their downtown locations for an upscale feel, or head to one of the other two locations for easier parking and shorter waits. Be warned; their deep dish pizzas are made to order and can take 45 minutes to bake, so you'll be waiting a while for your food. But if you have the time, they are definitely worth the wait!
"I'm a long-time fan of Chicago-style deep dish pizza, and the pies they serve here are every bit as fabulous as the ones they serve in the Chicago restaurant of the same (famous) name!
The first time I went here was pre-Pandemic; I ordered a large deep-dish pepperoni with mushrooms and sausage. It took a while to bake (real Chicago deep-dish always does) but when it came it was worth the wait - the pie was oozing with delicous cheese and toppings, and the the buttery, flakey crust was absolutely perfect.
The atmosphere was comfortable, friendly, and just the kind of place where it's fun to kick back and dig into some really exceptional pizza. Service was on-point, and the prices were great considering how amazing their pizza is :-)" -Yelp Review
Indianapolis may not have its own signature pizza styles like Chicago or St. Louis, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a delicious slice or pie. From true Chicago-style deep dish to international-inspired topping options, any of these pizza options is perfect for your next lunch, date night, or takeout!
