I don’t have enough positive things to say about Rock & Brews. And the last article I wrote today went 800 words over the word count and I had to spend all afternoon editing it down to size. So I am going to try to be concise.
It is called “Rock & Brews.”.
If you are a fan of rock’n roll music, and American style pub food, then this is THE place for you. I honestly wished I lived in Sacramento so I had a restaurant this fun to go to. They strive to be a unifying force that combines American music with the burgeoning craft beer culture in our country. Which is kind of awesome, I think it’s sort of a national embarrassment that the rest of the world thinks American beer tastes like one of those horrible light beers you get in a can (you know the ones) when there are so many hard working breweries and restaurants making high quality craft beer in every city in this country. It’s awesome Craft & Brews decided to take the next logical step, and mix great American music with all their great American beers.
But none of that means that Rock & Brews aren’t family friendly. Everybody is welcome at Rock & Brews. And they even have a mini golf course you can enjoy with the kids (or alternatively, while you are drunk with your friends). Which I mean, come on, what doesn’t sound fun about an American cheeseburger, alcoholic beverages, and some mini golf?
“Walked in and immediately loved the atmosphere.
The music, food, and staff are really great! ...The mini golf course was super fun, especially with beer! All in all this restaurant is exactly what Sacramento needed. Great food, great music, great ambiance altogether. Definitely will be returning.” - Yelp Review
Rock & Brews is one of the thousands of restaurants that accepts digital GiftYa gift cards, but it is also among one of the highest rated American restaurants in Sacramento!

While Rock & Brews has its own spectacular rock’n roll ambiance, The Rind also features a unique take on the classic American pub experience. The Rind’s menu features Artisan and Farmstead Cheese Plates paired with fine wines and beers. However, they serve it all in a unique bar/restaurant hybrid that features the best of both worlds. Not to mention it’s right in midtown, which makes it accessible no matter where you are in Sacramento. And when I curate these lists of best restaurants, I always like to keep accessibility in mind. There’s no use in me recommending a bunch of restaurants nobody can get to.
And if the accessibility and unique atmosphere aren’t enough of a selling point, maybe the fact that they have a four and a half star rating with their customers with nearly 1000 reviews is. I write these articles pretty consistently, and it is not common for restaurants to have so many reviews, and for so many of those reviews to be positive. People who have bad experiences are much more likely to leave a review in my observation, so that means for every positive review that was left, there were tons of other satisfied customers who had no interest in leaving a review on the internet. They just wanted to eat their food in peace.
Honestly, the only thing that didn’t put The Rind at the top of the list of the best American restaurants in Sacramento is because I assume if you are looking for American restaurants you are probably looking to go out and have some fun. And Rock & Brews featured a mini golf course. Otherwise The Rind easily would have been the top restaurant on the list.
“I really did enjoy my time at The Rind. The outdoor seating is a great spot and the service is good. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, helping my friend and I select the right drinks and I ordered the lobster Mac and Cheese and it was delicious! This cozy restaurant has a lot of options for wine and cheese dishes.
This a must go place, for happy hours!” - Yelp Review
The Rind doesn’t offer GiftYa digital gift cards just yet, but check back soon because we are always adding American restaurants and attractions in Sacramento!

Public House Downtown is honestly, pound for pound, probably the best restaurant on the list today. The only reason they aren’t higher up is because Rock & Brews got a bunch of plot armor because of the author's (i.e., my) personal preferences, and The Rind had a four and half star rating with nearly a thousand reviews. However, The Rind is almost a decade newer than Public House Downtown is. So the fact that Public House Downtown can boast a four star rating, despite being open for nearly two decades, and nearly 1800 reviews. When a restaurant can withstand the onslaught of time, as well as the onslaught of the vitriol of your average internet commenter, and you have a pretty astounding track record.
Most restaurants (60% of them) will close their doors for good before they have even been open a complete year. And 80% of restaurants will fail within the first five years they have been open. So it’s highly unusual for a restaurant to last more than a year, let alone five years, let alone, twenty years. At this point Public House Downtown is as much of a neighborhood landmark as it is a restaurant. There’s a reason people keep coming back to Public House Downtown. And if you don’t believe me just check out one of their 1800 positive reviews.
“Great place for a date night or first date! … We both had a couple cocktails and two pizzas. They were both really good…
... TVs everywhere so you can definitely go there for any game night too. Lovely crowd and friendly staff have no complaints and this is definitely a 5 Star place.” - Yelp Review

So I want to start off by saying that I write a lot of articles for GiftYa. Usually three or more a week. And every week I’m assigned a new city and I write about the different categories and varieties of restaurants in that city. And this is the first time I have had a restaurant that is so beloved and well reviewed that it appeared in multiple lists inlist on the same city. But that’s how good Fixins Soul Kitchen is. I don’t even feel lazy about using the same restaurant in two different listslist. It’s that good.
They boast a four and a half star rating in spite of having nearly 1500 different reviews. Not only do they serve high quality soul food (that celebrates the history and traditions of African Americans) in an open and inclusive environment, they are also a full service restaurant. And if that wasn’t enough to solidify them on the list today, the owner is also an Oak Park native. Fixins Soul Kitchen represents his lifelong dream of owning a restaurant in the neighborhood he grew up in. So not only do you get great food and great service at Fixins Soul Kitchen, you also get to feel good about supporting the business of a Sacramento native.
And if all of that doesn’t convince, go ahead and check out their Yelp reviews and make up your own mind. But I’m pretty sure you will reach the same conclusion I did. Fixins Soul Kitchen is the number one soul food restaurant in all of Sacramento.
“Just walking up to Fixin's I could feel this was going to be a great experience. We were greeted in the front by a friendly group of team members who greeted us right away...
..For the entrees, we ordered the two piece chicken and waffles, topped with strawberry butter. The waffles were so delicious with the strawberry butter I didn't need syrup! The chicken was perfectly seasoned inside and out.
I get excited when I try a new place and they get everything right. Looking forward to coming back with the whole family soon!” - Yelp Review
You can’t get a digital GiftYa gift card to Fixins Soul Kitchen at the moment but be sure to check back soon as new restaurants and locations are added all the time in Sacramento!

Iron Horse is another American eatery that made it on the list today sheerly by the sheer volume of it’s positive reviews. They have nearly 3000 thousand Yelp reviews and still manage to maintain a four star rating. If nothing else on this list appealed to you, rest assured that Iron Horse Tavern will consistently deliver all the American classics in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. No restaurant I have ever seen has had that many reviews, let alone that many positive ones. You can be certain that the Iron Horse Tavern will deliver every time.
“I love coming to Iron Horse for their happy hour! Service is always fast and amazing, and I'm so impressed by their deals. I came here once with a party of 4 and we spent $37 TOTAL on happy hour food & were completely satisfied!” - Yelp Review

There you have it! All the best rated American restaurants you can find in Sacramento. Sacramento is a major hub of business and commerce so it isn’t easy to narrow down the list of great American restaurants to only what can fit in this post. But just from what I gathered for you here today I think you’ll be able to find a location that fits your personal definition of “American.”. I featured everything from a Rock & Roll Pub, to an authentic African American owned soul food spot, to an upscale pub experience featuring cheese plates. So I tried to cover all my bases on what people think of when they think of an American restaurant. And remember, if you, or someone you love, is out in Sacramento, I marked off which restaurants accept convenient GiftYA digital gift cards. And you can use them at any of the locations I indicated on this list today.
But even if you choose an American restaurant in Sacramento that doesn’t accept GiftYa, or wasn’t even on this list today, I hope I was able to narrow your search down at least a little bit. Thanks for reading! You’d be amazed how many people only read part of what is on a webpage, so it’s rewarding to know at least some of you managed to stay focused long enough with all the distractions of the modern world to make it to the end of the page. You should feel good about yourself if you did. Not many people actually do.
