1. The Troubadour Hotel

Swanky hotel that used to be the site of the Lamplighter Club, where a tragic fire took place

Located just three blocks from the French Quarter is the famous Troubadour Hotel. This upscale hotel boasts a rooftop bar, high-end dining room, spacious guest rooms, and a few ghosts. 

The hotel’s paranormal activity can be traced back to The Rault Center, an exclusive club that once stood where the Troubador Hotel can now be found. In 1972, a fire trapped members inside the building. Six people perished. Since then, many guests claimed to have witnessed paranormal activity at the site.

Omni Royal Orleans is an upscale hotel located in the heart of the French Quarter. For the past 31 years, it has earned the Four Diamond Luxury award. At the Omni Royal Orleans, you can expect modern amenities, multiple room options, and friendly service. You might even spot a ghost or two.

Rumor has it that the Omni Royal Orleans is inhabited by several friendly ghosts. Past visitors have seen a Confederate soldier and 18th century maid. Others allege that some spirits take a liking to certain guests and follow them around. But you’ll have to visit to see for yourself!

3. Bourbon Orleans

Historic hotel in the French Quarter that is said to be the home of at least 20 ghosts

Bourbon Orleans offers classy and elegant lodgings for visitors. Along with several room and suite options, Bourbon Orleans also offers an on-site restaurant and various luxury amenities. And, like all of the other hotels on this list, it’s said to be haunted. At least 20 ghosts are said to reside in this famous hotel.

The building itself has undergone several transformations. It first opened as the Orleans Ballroom and Theatre before being bought out by the Sisters of the Holy Family. During this time, one of the worst outbreaks of Yellow Fellow took the lives of several inhabitants. In 1964, they sold the hotel and Bourbon Orleans was born.

4. Lafitte Hotel & Bar

Lafitte Hotel & Bar is a boutique hotel that resides in the famous French Quarter. It offers a total of 14 guest rooms. Many of them are outfitted with private balconies and are decorated with antiques from New Orleans. 

Over the years, numerous paranormal sightings have been reported at Lafitte Hotel & Bar. In the past, the child of one of the previous owners died at the hotel. In room 21, a little girl died of yellow fever. Several years later, her mother died in the same room.

The Dauphine Orleans Hotel has been around since 1775. So it’s no surprise that it’s had its fair share of ghost sightings. From Civil War soldiers to ladies of the night, dozens of ghosts have been seen throughout the hotel’s hallways.

6. The Pontchartrain Hotel

The Pontchartrain Hotel is a charming and chic hotel located in Central City. Over the years, it’s been recognized in prestigious publications such as Conde Nast, Fodor’s Travel, USA Today, and Travel and Leisure. The hotel offers numerous amenities including several restaurants and bars, luxury suites, flat screen TVs, and more.

It’s said that The Pontchartrain Hotel is home to around 25 ghosts. In 1929, a fire broke out and claimed the lives of a husband and wife. Some say they still roam the 9th floor where they stayed. A local pianist, an elderly man, and two women have also been spotted on the upper floors.

Over the years, numerous guests have reported witnessing paranormal activity at the hotel. In 2003, the International Society of Paranormal Research spent several days at the hotel. They reported making eye contact with several ghostly entities.

As for ghost sightings, there’s been plenty of those at Le Pavillon Hotel. One paranormal investigation team even claimed to find almost 100 undead entities during their visit. According to legend, the hotel is so haunted because it sits on a portal to a parallel universe.

Hotel Maison De Ville is another great option if you’re looking for a high-quality hotel and some paranormal activity. This charming historic property dates all the way back to the 18th century. Since opening, it’s been renovated to accommodate luxury amenities. 

It’s said that Cottage 4 is the most haunted spot on the property. According to legend, a military man in a 1940s WWII era uniform haunts the cottage.
