Red Hook Lobster Pound

A nautical-themed restaurant serving up seafood in a New England-style.

284 Van Brunt St | Brooklyn | redhooklobster.com

Red Hook Lobster Pound was established in 2009 by Ralph Gorham and Susan Povich in Red Hook, Brooklyn. They chose Red Hook because it reminded them of the lobstering communities in Maine thanks to the lovely waterfront and the vibrant and supportive community. And since they opened their doors, Red Hook Lobster Pound has become an extremely popular Brooklyn restaurant with people traveling hundreds of miles to sample their fresh lobster.

One menu item that locals continue to come back for is their famous lobster rolls. They serve their rolls in the authentic New England way which means that the bread is buttery and toasted with a split on top where lobster is stuffed and overflowing. Delicious! So definitely try their lobster rolls. If you’re wanting an appetizer, check out their Moule Frites which are sauteed mussels over fries with your choice of garlic herb or Cajun garlic butter. And be sure to have a Blueberry Float to go with your meal. But you can also enjoy beer, wine, cocktails, and frozen drinks at Red Hook Lobster Pound.

The last thing I want to touch on is the atmosphere and decor. On the outside, the brick is painted white with a vibrant red image of a lobster. The interior is bursting with color and feels like you’re on a boat. It's a casual restaurant and the perfect place to hang out with friends on a Friday night.

"I ordered take out, Connecticut lobster roll with tots;  calamari and French fries for the kiddos. It was the BEST lobster roll I have ever had! The tots were good too! Crunchy and flavorful. I am so happy I happen to be in the area to be able to go and get some yummy food!" - Yelp Review

Petite Crevette is a unique and lively little restaurant. It has incredible French decor including a unique statue in the restaurant. Decorated tiles adorn the ceiling and small chandeliers dangle from it. Interesting pictures cover the walls and the brick wall interior adds to its charming design. Even on the outside, it's painted as the French flag giving it a whimsical vibe.

Petite Crevette opened in 2008, but the idea began back in 1993 with Neil Ganic. His La Bouillabaisse became highly rated and so popular that there was a line out of the restaurant and on the sidewalk just to get a taste. He brought his award-winning skill and expertise to his restaurant, Petite Crevette.

Now, Neil combines his 40 years of skills as a chef with the freshest seafood and creates magical deliciousness. With such a renowned chef, Petite Crevette is a must-try restaurant in Brooklyn. We recommend that you start off with their fried oysters which are deep-fried and served with a mixed green salad. For an entree, take a look at the Tuna Nicoise served with tomatoes, black olives, and capers in a white wine sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. Finally, end the meal with their Warm Chocolate Tart and bask in all the chocolatey goodness. Yum!

"Such a rare authentic French gem to find in Brooklyn.  Best kept secret. Their menu is limited, but what is offered is prepared to perfection.  Bravo to the chef and owner!  And the BYOB deal can't be beat.  Money saver lol." - Yelp Review
