1. Sushi Boss
An innovative build-your-own sushi concept
803 W 10th St, Ste B, Indianapolis, IN 46202 sushiboss.com
Sushi Boss isn't your typical sushi restaurant. Instead, they offer an innovative experience that allows customers to build their very own sushi rolls. Pre-COVID, guests chose each ingredient they wanted inside their roll, and experience sushi masters carefully crafted their rolls right before their eyes. While you can still enjoy the full experience in the restaurant, Sushi Boss now also offers build-your-own kits that you can take home for a unique experience great for sharing with family and friends.
"I love this restaurant! I think the entire concept of building your own sushi is great. If you basically only like cream cheese and shrimp that's all you have to put in your roll. It's probably a great place to take a beginning sushi eater.
Prior to Covid we came here a few times for a quick sushi fix and always enjoyed it. During covid though is when I became a true fan and will continue to support this business because it's a true gem!!!!
To offset the decline in sales during Covid this business launched take home sushi kits where they sent you home with everything you needed to learn how to make sushi. BRILLIANT IDEA! We ordered three kits during lock down! It was so much fun experimenting and building our own sushi.
Support this business! They are doing everything thing they can to make lemonade out of the 2020 lemons we've all been getting." -Yelp Review

"We have been doing take out but tonight we decided to dine in. My son loves sushi so I decided to take advantage of the ALL DAY Happy Hour menu. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Service was great. We did make advanced reservations to ensure we did not have to wait. The food was absolutely delicious. I tried the lychee low and it was yummy. My son and I absolutely enjoyed the specialty sashimi the most. Overall, everything was delicious and we will be back to try other dishes and drinks." -Yelp Review

3. Sushi House
A simple, unassuming restaurant serving up fresh, affordable rolls
11647 Fox Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236 geistsushihouse.com
If you didn't know what you were looking for, it would be easy to drive by this unassuming restaurant. But what Sushi House lacks in extravagance, it makes up for in fresh ingredients, tasty dishes, and affordable prices. Perfect for grabbing carry-out or dining with your family, their rolls and sashimi will hit the spot without emptying out your wallet. They proudly claim to be the best sushi in Indianapolis, and many of their happy patrons would agree with that.
"First timer at Sushi House and was impressed! It had a nice, open atmosphere but the seating arrangements provided an intimate setting as well. The service was friendly, professional, and timely. They even give you complimentary candy with your check. That's always a plus ;) We ordered a few rolls (see photos) and each were delicious! My personal favorite that I've tried so far is probably the Geist Roll with the Sushi House Roll coming in at a close second. Their menu is fairly large with many different options to choose from. I can't wait to come back and try more! Sushi House, you've successfully won a returning customer." -Yelp Review

Party booths with screens and curtains make it easy to enjoy an intimate meal with friends or a date. Extravagant, perfectly plated dishes pack plenty of color and flavor. The menu features a wide selection of both sushi and Japanese cuisine, offering something for every taste.
"This place is one of those hole in the wall kind of restaurants where it looks maybe not great but has great food! When I walked into the restaurant I thought maybe I had found the wrong place. For some reason, the pictures on Yelp don't seem to match the interior of the restaurant. It has a lot of tables and a few booths. Apparently they offer hibachi but aren't doing it right now because of COVID.
My fiancé and I ordered the California roll, philly roll, kasai roll, and shrimp tempura roll. All the rolls had great flavor and were made well. They also had great presentation of food! I always like to order a California roll even though a lot of people don't consider it "real sushi." In my opinion, you can tell if a restaurant makes their rolls well by trying a California roll. If the roll is plain, their other rolls are likely to be basic with just okay flavor and taste. I really enjoyed the California roll here. I felt that it had good flavor. The kasai roll was a speciality roll named after the restaurant. My 5-star rating is based solely on the quality of food. If you're looking for a yummy sushi place on the east side of Indy, I would highly recommend trying this restaurant!" -Yelp Review

"My husband and I went here and it was amazing! It is this little while in the wall spot and so at first we were a little nervous, but the service was prompt and the food was amazing. We ordered the crab for the appetizer and two of their sushi rolls. It's been a few weeks since I have gone, but I still think about the food occasionally." -Yelp Review
