If you’re a passionate wine lover who would love to visit some of the most beautiful places where this magical drink is made, make sure to stay with us and keep on reading. Here is an alphabetical list of wine regions so check it out and see which one you should visit next!

Bordeaux, France

It’s good to know that this region is best known for the red clarets that share its name. Bordeaux is synonymous with good wine, many people who do professional writing mention it in their work. This place is the home to Vinexpo – the world’s largest wine fair that takes place every two years. It was held in June this year and it featured more than 2300 exhibitors from 40 countries. Bordeaux’s gorgeous landscapes will make you completely fall in love with it, and the fact that it’s located in the southwest of the country makes it even more attractive, particularly because Cote d’Argent, Europe’s longest beach, is one of this region’s most beautiful landmarks.

La Rioja, Spain

Apart from Andalucía, La Rioja is another region in Spain known for its wines. It’s located in the north of the country, sheltered by the Cantabrian Mountains which provide a perfect climate for winemaking. The most famous varietals are red Tempranillo and white Viura, and what’s interesting is the fact that the tradition of making wine is over 1,000 years old in this area. If you want to explore northern Spain at its finest, make sure to visit Bilbao – its urban landscape complemented with elements of country setting will sweep you off your feet!

McLaren Vale, Australia

In case you didn’t know, Australia is the fourth largest wine exporter in the world, and many regions contribute to this fact. McLaren Vale is one of them; however, it focuses on quality rather than on quantity. This region is located about 35 kilometers south of Adelaide and is best known for its first vines that were planted back in 1838. Dry red wines, especially those made from Grenache, Mourvedre, and Shiraz are the most famous ones. Exploring this region’s wonderful landscapes is an absolute must, so make sure to drive down the coast and look for the Great Ocean Walk!

Tuscany, Italy

Every bit of Tuscany is to die for – starting from its breathtaking architecture to the most amazing wines you’ve ever tried. It is home to dry Chianti, the most famous red wine that was made popular by Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs. This wine is kept in a classic bottle placed in a straw basket known as a fiasco, and it’s said to go very well with food. When in Tuscany, you mustn’t skip Florence and its mesmerizing Piazza del Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. Trust us, these are worth all the hype!

Wellington/Wairarapa, New Zealand

Even though this is one of the smallest wine regions in New Zealand, the fact is that the quality of its wines actually can’t be compared to the others – it’s beyond extraordinary. Pinot Noir is one of the most famous varietals, as well as Sauvignon Blanc, and each of these accounts for over a third of the region’s production. Wairarapa is an hour’s drive north of Wellington, so make sure to rent a car and visit the sub-region of Martinborough which is said to have the oldest vines and the best products out there!

Each of these five wine regions is beyond hypnotizing, both when it comes to their wines and their natural wonders. If you’re a wine lover, make sure to visit at least one of them and enjoy its beauty and fantastic products!
