If you are looking for the fanciest Chinese restaurant you can find in Wilmington then Indochine is going to be your best choice.  They have a lotus pond that you can enjoy, Thai huts that you can enjoy small gatherings in, as well as an exquisite dining room that has room for plenty if indoor seating is more your vibe. And listen, Indochine isn’t even technically Chinese food, it’s a Thai-Vietnamese fusion restaurant. But it’s so hard to offer any kind of menu diversity when you are writing a list of the best Chinese restaurants that I am fudging the rules a little bit. 

Which I wouldn’t do if Indochine didn’t have such an outrageously positive reaction from their customer base. They boast a four and a half star rating with over one thousand reviews on their Yelp page. That means that time after time after time, they are leaving their customers with a feeling of having their expectations not only met, but exceeded in almost every aspect of their evening. And it’s for this reason I feel so comfortable fudging the rules to include Indochine on my list today.

Best Priced Portions For A Chinese Restaurant In Wilmington

Cafe Chinois is going to have all the classic Chinese dishes that you expect. But what you won’t expect, or I guess now you will expect it since I told you about it, is there very generous portion sizes. Let’s face inflation is hitting everybody these days so I’m sure the price of take out has gone up where you live and it is certainly going to go up in Wilmington. So I would take advantage of Cafe Chinois ample portions sizes now while they last before inflation takes the opportunity away from the owners.

Double Happiness seems to be the best restaurant in Wilmington for what I would refer to as your stereotypical Chinese restaurant. They aren’t going to have anything that crazy on the menu but they are going to have all the staples that you love served up in one convenient location. So if you are eating in a group that just might happen to have a picky eater in the crew, then Double Happiness is going to be the best Chinese restaurant in Wilmington for you. Their menu, while good, isn’t overly exotic or daring. I think that anybody with even remotely reasonable sensibilities would have a delightful time here and enjoy the food whether they eat at the establishment, or whether they opt for the take-out option. All in all, I think it is the most balanced option for a Chinese restaurant in Wilmington, North Carolina.

I like to get as much variety as I can on this list but it can be hard to do so when you can only write about one specific type of cuisine. But not to worry, because China is such a large and unique culture, there are actually all kinds of food that fall under the umbrella of Chinese food. And Bdobo Mongolian Grill is just that. It is a specialty type of cuisine from China that is a little bit different from your average Chinese restaurant. 

What a mongolian grill is, is basically a Chinese barbeque. Which I mean come on. If you are a red blooded American you can't say that doesn’t sound delicious. Two of the best types of cuisines, Chinese food, and BBQ coming together in one place just for you? That’s what you’ll find at Bdobo Mongolian Grill.

Szechuan 132 might not be the most daring or inventive entry on my list today. But the cool thing about them is they have been around since 1988 so they have a proven track record. They are a locally owned independent Chinese restaurant that has really been a staple of Wilmington since 1988. I mean they have weathered three recessions (I think, it’s getting hard to keep count) and have come out not only on top, but boasting high user ratings across the board.

Ming Yao Chinese restaurant rounds out my list of best Chinese places you can find in Wilmington, North Carolina. And it isn’t so much that there is anything wrong with Ming Yao, or that it does something worse than the other restaurants, it is just that there were so many highly rated Chinese restaurants in Wilmington that it got bumped down the list. But you can expect all the classics like egg rolls and noodles served up in a calming atmosphere with a smile. Their service, food, and hospitality make them as worthy as another other entry on this list.

Some restaurants in Wilmington seem to be putting less effort in lately – which is understandable. It’s hard to offer stable service during uncertain times. However Uncle Lim’s Kitchen has never faltered in providing tasty food at affordable prices, firmly cementing its spot on this list.
