Ma Maison comes to the top of the list today for a couple reasons. But I think the number one reason they made it to the top of the list is because they provide satisfying French cuisine in a casual dining sort of way. Which to me, makes them the most accessible restaurant on the list today, and I always want you, the reader, to have the most worry free experience you can if you follow one of my recommendations. 

So whereas some of the other restaurants on this list are going to require a fancy dress code and a reservation well in advance, things aren’t quite as high strung at Ma Maison. In fact their goal is to provide satisfying French fare in a way that doesn’t break the bank. Not only are they not as high strung as some of the other restaurants on the list today, they aren’t so overpriced either. 

But that’s not to say the restaurant isn’t nice. It certainly is. With classic warm wood accents, leather banquet and silver trays hung on the walls provide an upscale, yet intimate, dining experience that makes you feel more like a welcomed guest in someone’s home than just another customer at the table. And if that doesn’t help you feel right at home during your dining experience then I’m sure the boutique wine list and invigorating cocktail menu will help you find the repose and relaxation you are looking for during your meal.

So you can be sure that even though their food isn’t as overpriced as the other options on the menu, it by no means implies their food is of any lesser quality. The City of Lyon in France has a long history of having some of the world’s best cuisine. In fact it has even been referred to as the “gastronomic capital of the world” and Bar Lyon takes this namesake very seriously. They strive to offer the best French cuisine anywhere in the city of Boston. And they are probably doing so in fact. The only thing that kept them from making it to the top of the list today was their accessibility. 

They lean a bit more on the pricier side of the scale for today’s list. And also since they are a bit more upscale you will definitely want to make a reservation in advance if you want to go. And this makes them a little less accessible than Ma Maison. And since it is a more upscale establishment, I feel like it doesn’;t quite have the same accessibility solime families might be looking for. So that’s the only treason Bar Lyon didn’t take first of the list today. 

However, if you do make that reservation then you are going to be treated to the best French meals you can find in Boston. Bar Lyon also happens to boast a four and a half star rating from their customers online. And if they had been open longer and ranked up more reviews they probably would have been number one. That being said, from the reviews that have been left you will find time and time again comments about how delicious the food is, but also how impeccable the service is. And that is what brings Aquitaine to number three on the list today.

With all the different options for dining they are sure to have just the seat available for you whether you are trying to impress your date over at the bar, or are pulling out the chair for your future mother in law in the dining room or out on the patio, Aquitaine is going to provide the atmosphere you need. And not only are you going to be able to sit in a comfortable and accessible place, you can also expect top notch cuisine, and excellent customer service during your entire visit. 

Aquitaine has been open for over 20 years and still manages to hold a four star rating with nearly 1000 reviews online. Which is impressively consistent. It is difficult to maintain a super high review rating like that for one year, let alone for twenty. And not only has Aquitaine been providing excellent food and customer service for 20 years, they have also been winning awards for their food and hospitality during that time. 

Aquitaine has consistently been the premiere French bistro in the Southin South End, and I have no hesitation in recommending them to you. They have proven themselves to be consistently a step above the competition for over twenty years and I have no reason to believe they will stop anytime soon. Whether you read this tomorrow, or five years after I’ve written it, I am confident you won’t be disappointed in Aquitaine’s food or customer service.

Loved the escargot, especially the garlicky sauce with the toasted bread, and the new york strip steak frites ( Parisian ) was very very tasty.  Also got chocolate mousse and another dessert and both finished off the meal well, but the highlights were the escargots and steak.  The noise level was not overly loud. However, the only thing that drops them down the list today is because from my general impression, this is going to be the fanciest, or most upscale, restaurant of the list today. And as such, I expect some members of those reading will want to find somewhere a bit more low key, and less expensive as well. However, if this is a big day, a graduation, an anniversary, or a big celebration of any kind, you can’t really go wrong if you want to spend the money for a night at Minstral. 

They’ve been around since 1997 and in that time they have built quite the reputation for themselves as being one of the best French restaurants in all of Boston. They serve an uncomplicated cuisine that is a hybrid of classic French dishes and classic Mediterranean style dishes. And the restaurant decor is set to match the meals. With high luxurious ceilings, and arched windows that stand from the high ceiling all the way down to the floor, everything about Mistrals is designed to impress. The ambiance, the food, the service. Everything is designed to leave you thinking one thing. Wow!
