Luckily, Pittsburgh is home to some pretty great playgrounds! With lots of structures to climb on-- full of slides and monkey bars-- your kids are sure to have a blast at these locations. You’ll enjoy getting some fresh air and watching the kids the play as well.

Aspinwall Riverfront Park was created through the sheer resolve of the local citizens-- they wanted a beautiful place to walk, jog, and play with the kids.

The Aspinwall citizens felt that everyone should have access to this park-- and through their efforts and fundraising-- the Aspinwall Riverfront Park is what it is today.

The kids love coming to play at the playground, with its famous sculpture slide and run around amongst all the native Pennsylvania plants. This park also has riverfront access, so you can put in your kayak in the river and sail away!

Frick Park is one of the most-loved parks in Pittsburgh.

It’s a great area for hiking, biking, and playing with your pup. But the kids love it because of the Blue Slide. This is an incredibly fun slide that multiple generations of Pittsburgh children have loved.

This play area is very popular, and parents from around Pittsburgh make it a point to take their kids to the Blue Slide. It’s such a simple concept, but one that appears to be particularly endearing to Pittsburghers.

Anderson Playground is a part of another city park-- Schenley Park.

Literally one of my favorite parks in Pittsburgh!!!...

Located between Oakland, Greenfield, and Squirrel Hill, Schenley Park is a great destination for kids. With plenty of green space to run around in-- as well as pavions for picnics-- the lawn is filled with families in the summer months.

The kids love the interactive playground that includes a castle, dinosaur, and merry-go-round. When you’re done at the playground, be sure to walk the many trails and take in the scenic views of the city.

Dormont Park has created quite the impressive playground for kids all over the Pittsburgh area to enjoy.

My kiddos really enjoy this playground. It's big and has many different things to go. There are 4 different slides, a tire swing, a tire climb thing and obstacles throughout... - Yelp Review

All of the wooden structures are connected in a maze-like pattern-- and sure to offer hours of fun your little ones. There are also swings, slides, and ropes that the kids just can’t seem to get enough of.

Located right next to Dormont Pool, it’s a great place to visit before--or after--  a swim in the pool.  Be sure to try out the huge tire swing as well!

Located a little north of the city in Cranberry Twp. Park, Kids Castle is a great place to let your little ones have some outdoor fun.

The theme of the park is Cranberry’s Past, Present, and Future-- and the play items reflect the changing nature of playgrounds. The park also has picnic tables so you can enjoy a picnic lunch, and is handicap accessible.

Wiltshire Park is another great outdoor playground that should be on every parent’s list of play places.

It is has some awesome play equipment like double slides, horizontal rings, a merry-go-round, and even Tic Tac Toe.

There’s even a sandbox for your little ones to enjoy. If it’s especially hot in the summer months, be sure to cool off at the dolphin spray park located right next door.

South Park and North Park both are home to the Black and Gold playgrounds.

Pittsburghers love that all the equipment are painted in support of the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. The kids love all the swings and twist slides!

Both of these parks are also equipped to handle children with special physical needs as well, and everything is handicap accessible.

South Park is also located near stables and the wave pool, if you really want to make a day of it!

Located in Plum Borough, it’s a nice quiet spot to let the kids play for the day. This playground is also accessible for kids of all physical abilities-- there are special swings and extra wide ramps for wheelchairs.

Located next to Boyce Park, O’Block playground is a great choice when you want to get the kids out of the house. There is even exercise equipment available for the adults to use! You can get a quick workout in while you watch the kids play.

Surrounded by beautiful trees, this playground is open year round and is a popular spot for parents to take the kids after a hike on the walking trails. There are pavilions for picnics and plenty of benches to relax on-- it’s also located close to some wonderful shopping options.

This is a nice little playground where your kids are sure to have a great time.

Regardless of where you’re at in the city, there’s a playground close by. These places would be great to take the kids to and let them run around-- and spend some time outside in the sunshine and away from the smartphones and tablets.
