1 - Antica Forma

Like Mama Used to Make Back In the Old Country!

267 N Main St | Moab | anticaforma.com

If you are in Moab and craving a nice hot slice of pizza or some delicious pasta to fill up on after a long day of exploring the parks or kayaking, then Antica Forma is going to be the spot in Moab for you! Antica Forma means “the old form” so you know they are going to be bringing classic and authentic Italian cuisine right to your table. They have all the classics like Ceasar Salad, alfredo, and chicken parm, but what you are really going to want to try is their out of this world pizza that they prepare in a classic Neapolitan style.

If you’ve never had Neapolitan style pizza before, don’t worry, it’s pretty similar to the traditional pizza you are used to. The only big difference is that Neapolitan pizza is created with a very thin crust as opposed to New York style pizza that is more than likely what you are used to. And then instead of a standard sauce it is made with a unique tomato sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese.

And at Antica Forma, they take every single step of this as seriously as possible. They use caputo flour to make the dough and let it chill for a minimum of 24 hours to get a better taste. Then they make the sauce with tomatoes grown on the volcanic plains just to the south of Mt. Vesuvius. And they even make and stretch their own mozzarella on a daily basis. If you are craving something delicious in Moab and have never tried Neapolitan style pizza before you aren’t going to be able to find a better place to try it on this continent!

“I was lucky to find this place across the street from a motel I was staying at. Delicious Neapolitan style pizza. Pastas looked great too. I had the piccante. The bread was cooked perfectly with nice spotted char on the bottom. The homemade mozzarella is delicious.” - Yelp Review

2 - Arches Thai

Perfect for When You’re Craving Authentic Asian Cuisine in Arches

60 N 100 W | Moab | archesthai.com

If you aren’t feeling Italian for dinner and are craving something with a more eastern flavor profile then I would highly recommend you check out Arches Thai. Not only do they have an absurd amount of positive customer feedback (they are the highest rated Thai restaurant in Moab on both Yelp and Tripadvisor) they are also a pretty ethical business. They use only cage-free eggs and organic meat in their dishes. But if you can’t eat meat or eggs, don't worry, they also have plenty of amazing vegan and vegetarian dishes that you will love!

They’ve been around since 2016 and in that time they have really earned their reputation as the best Thai place in Moab by serving up all the classics in a delicious fashion. You can get everything from pad thai and pad see ew to all the types of curry you could dream up! So if you are a fan of Thai food, Vietnamese food, or just Asian cuisine in general you owe it to yourself to give Arches Thai a try the very next time you are in town.

“We came here both nights we were in Moab and absolutely love this place. It's consistently good, super quick, and the food is so flavorful. There was seating inside and outside. It was delightful!” - Yelp Review

3 - Pasta Jay’s

4 S Main St | Moab | pastajays.com

Pasta Jay’s is a bit of a local favorite in this part of the country. The first location opened in September of 1988 in Boulder Colorado. But before they opened their doors Jay Elowsky (the head chef and part owner) spent over six years cooking at Sonny’s Pizza in San Clemente, California. Sonny’s Pizza might not sound that amazing, but Sonny (the owner and head chef) learned all of his recipes from his mother. And her grandmother was literally the cook for the first King of the United Countries of Italy. And I’m honestly not sure that you can find Italian recipes more authentic than the ones served to the first king of Italy.

Anyways, long story short is that Jay learned all his recipes from a man descended from the royal chef’s of Italy. Which led to (as you might imagine) quite a lot of success for him in the restaurant business. And since they opened that first location in 1988, Pasta Jay’s has grown to include three additional dining locations. You have the original in Boulder, one in Lone Tree, one in Hays Kansas, and of course the Moab location that opened in 1992. And in the thirty plus years it’s been open the Moab location has made quite a name for itself with travelers and locals alike!

“Soo GOOOD!! I haven't had fettuccine Alfredo in a while and this really hit the spot! Very creamy, had chicken protein and broccoli veggies. The complimentary garlic bread was delicious and crispy too.” - Yelp Review

4 - El Charro Loco

The Freshest and Most Authentic Mexican Food In Moab

812 S Main St | Moab | facebook.com

If you aren’t looking for some sort of Asian cuisine, and you definitely aren’t in the mood for italian, then I am proud to present you with El Charro Loco. Which just so happens to be the best Mexican restaurant you can find around Moab. They have all the staples of great Mexican cuisine like fajitas, enchiladas, and tacos. So you can be sure you will get a great meal.

To be honest El Charro Loco doesn’t have much of a web presence as of yet. They’ve been around since 2015, but they’re a mom and pop shop that is trying to make the freshest and most authentic Mexican cuisine they can. So you’ll just have to trust me on this one and give them a chance without being able to see their full menu online in advance. You’ll get a fantastic meal, at a fair price, and be supporting a small business with your dollar.

But just to reassure you, they have a four star rating on Yelp with over 1000 reviews in the bag. So plenty of people have tried it and loved it! Why not be one of them?

“We were seated immediately. Good service & the food came out Hot. I had chicken fajitas & hubby had Enchiladas and tacos. ” - Yelp Review

5 - Moab Diner

Best Place for Breakfast (Or Breakfast for Dinner) In Moab

189 S Main St | Moab | moabdiner.com

The Moab Diner is another local favorite that you should try checking out the next time you are craving American style diner food. It’s been there since 1992 so you know they must be doing something right if people have been coming back for over 30 years. You can get cheeseburgers, chicken fried steak, and all kinds of other sandwiches and entrees. But I think the thing that makes the Moab Diner stand out to me is the fact that they serve breakfast all day long. And they have a really extensive breakfast menu. If you don’t believe me just check out their website. They have a whole separate breakfast menu separate from everything else they serve. So if you are in Moab and you are craving breakfast for dinner, then this is absolutely going to be the spot in Moaab for you!

“Cute little dinner with home style food.  Breakfast is served all day.  The night we were there the place was packed, but the wait staff saw we received our meal in a timely manner.” - Yelp Review
